i don't get it.. the idea is that it's ok to eat food on any day as everyday is a day of thanksgiving.
it was the only holiday that i knew witnesses to celebrate.. .
What about the day after? I know far too many (myself included) who get up early, or just stay up, for all the after thanksgiving sales; doesn't that constitute a part of the celebration?

Reading this thread again made me think of something.
If the $ociety is so willing to lie about important things (ya know God, Jesus, the Bible and so on), why wouldn’t they lie about the number of publishers involved, or the hours they actually put in? I know there are some honest ones in the borganization, but collectively as a whole they are liars and cheats; what’s to stop them from manipulating the numbers in their favor? I guess, since no one is allowed to fact check the stats, we'll never really know.

I too stay in for family and do my utmost to go unnoticed, so I understand your struggle, but unfortunately you've been spotted on the radar. If they let sleeping dogs lie you'll get some dirty looks but will remain "in", however if they want to speak with you again you're screwed. You will only have two choices at that point, speak up and get “disciplined”, or try to sound as repentant and apologetic (for being right) as you can, bend over and take one for the team.

I too agree filling in the information was a rather sleazy guilt trip.
This "let's fake pioneering" scheme is all around nauseating. What’s revolting about this “special” (dis)service is it’s always conveniently offered around the memorial campaign; basically not real door-to door, just a bunch of people out in droves pushing tracts in doors. So now we have fake auxiliary pioneering and fake service. NICE! what’s next, faux worship? Just say you did it and it’s done, no real effort involved. Think about it, the tract campaigns have gotten more and more frequent, and now lowered requirements; looks like the $ociety’s really working overtime to dumb things down. Hmm reminds me of another entity who became more lax so as to gain members, what do JWs call it again? Oh yeah Christendom!
